Tie-dyed shirts, pizza, exited faces and eggs.
The Quad's atmosphere was filled with Easter enthusiasm as children ran with baskets in hand.
Thursday was the second annual Easter Extravaganza Egg Hunt, organized by the University Program Board and open to the community.
The event included free food, activities for children from ages one to 12 and the Easter Bunny.
Sam Maples, junior telecommunications major and UPB program director, said this year's event had more activities than last year.
"It was a little more organized because we already had the experience of last year," she said. "We had some more activities like the tie-dyed shirts, and we had more food."
About 300 people participated in the event, which lasted for two hours. Part of the UPB event funds are used to organize the Easter egg hunt, junior nursing major Jessica Nguyen said.
"Most of the money is spent on students," she said. "But when we have the opportunity, we interact with the community and have fun."
Nguyen said she enjoyed organizing events that benefitted not only students but also residents of Muncie.
"Easter is a big holiday and we wanted to reach out to the community," she said. "It's fun for the kids and fun for us."
Maple said she would like to organize another Easter extravaganza next year.
"We won't schedule events for next year until the fall," she said. "But we hope we organize something for the Easter again because we had a lot of fun this year."
Lisa Swingley, a Muncie resident who attended the extravaganza, said she liked events organized by the university because they were fun and safe.
"It's a nice thing they do for the kids," she said. "We used to go to the Halloween event; it's so much fun and it's good for the family."
