FOOTBALL: Cardinals 2009 schedule features multiple ESPN games

After finishing the 2008 regular season undefeated, the Ball State University football team now knows who it will have to beat if it wants to accomplish the feat again in 2009.

Ball State announced its 2009 schedule Thursday, which includes at least two nationally televised games.

Ball State will play Sept. 19 at Army in a game that we be televised on ESPN Classic or ESPNU. Ball State will play at Western Michigan University on Nov. 24 in a game that will be on ESPN.

Ball State's games Nov. 12 at Northern Illinois University and Nov. 18 against Central Michigan University are also possible ESPN games, as ESPN has the right to pick from multiple MAC games those nights. The decision on which games will be televised will be made at least three weeks before the game.

Ball State will open its season against the University of North Texas on Sept. 3 in Muncie. Ball State will also play home games against the University of New Hampshire, the University of Toledo, Bowling Green State University, Ohio University and Central Michigan.

The Toledo game on Oct. 3 will be Ball State's first Mid-American Conference game of the season and the university's Homecoming. Two weeks later, Ball State will play Bowling Green during Family Weekend.

Ball State will travel this year to play at Army, Auburn University, Temple University, Eastern Michigan University, Northern Illinois and Western Michigan.

Four of Ball State's games will be on weekdays while eight are on Saturdays. Ball State will open its season at home on a Thursday against North Texas. Ball State will play Central Michigan at home on a Wednesday.

Ball State will play at Northern Illinois on a Thursday and at Western Michigan on a Tuesday.
