A two part fashion and hair show in Ball State University's Alumni Center focused on what most people do not see every day.
The first half of the show featured high-fashion clothing, and the second half featured dramatic hair and makeup accented with colorful lights.
Dresses in the first half were designed with different colors and patterns. The hair styles from the second half were big and colorful with matching makeup based on themes such as angels, zodiac signs and galaxies.
Masters of Divine Beauty and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. collaborated for Friday's event.
Chris Allen, president of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, and Neila Span, founder and president of the Masters of Divine Beauty, decided to work together on the event because their organizations were having their weeks of events.
The fashion and hair show was free and supported women's awareness.
"I was really happy with the turnout; the show actually sold out yesterday," Span said.
The hosts read statistics about issues that affect women such as cancer, abuse and single motherhood, and it celebrated that some of these issues have declined over the years because of better prevention methods.
"We wanted to stress [women's awareness] because it is not talked about enough and there's no better way to do that than through beauty," Span said.
The show displayed clothes, hair and makeup done by students and swimwear by guest designer, Lori Coulter of True Measure Swimwear.
"I was really happy about the way it worked out. The models worked hard," said Mamie Miles, one of the event's designers.
Allen said he thought the fraternity's other events during the week offered a lot to the Ball State community.
"I felt everyone took a lot out of it and enjoyed the events," Allen said. "As long as they are enjoying themselves then I am happy."
