Scotty's Brewhouse creates Web site ordering system

Restaurant uses online-only offers to publicize program

With the click of a mouse, customers can save time by ordering and paying for carry-out meals online at a Village restaurant.

Scotty's Brewhouse manager Phil Juskevice said the restaurant began accepting orders through its Web site in January.

Juskevice said the service started slowly, but the restaurant tried to publicize it, offering online-only specials in February.

Owner Scott Wise said the online ordering system took 18 months to develop and perfect.

Juskevice said the Web site allows customers to choose any menu item and specify sides, toppings and sauces.

The online system also allows customers to add drinks and desserts to their orders before sending them to the restaurant.

Scotty's receives about eight online orders per day, he said, mostly during dinner hours.

Wise said placing orders with the Web site instead of with a person removes the risk of receiving an incorrect custom order.

"When you're at home and you order yourself, everything is up to you," Wise said. "I think that reassures the customer that they're getting exactly what they want."

Juskevice said Scotty's would begin contracting a call center within the next month to handle incoming phone calls.

He said bartenders currently take phone orders, which slows down service in the restaurant.

Wise said the call center would streamline the ordering process for both the customer and the restaurant.
