MEN'S GOLF: Cards second at invitational after day one

In its second tournament of the spring season, the Ball State University men's golf team is tied for second place after the first round at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate in Pinehurst, N.C.

Carding a team-combined score of 303, the Cardinals trail Indiana University by 17 strokes. Ball State is tied with Virginia Commonwealth University.

Sophomore Ross Cosat leads the Cardinals with an even par score of 72. He shot four birdies and four bogies. After 18 holes, Cosat is tied for fifth place individually.

The 19-team field will continue today with second-round competition. The final 18 holes are slated to begin Tuesday.
