Thieves break into Village bar

Locker Room owner offers cash reward for information

The owner of the Locker Room is offering a $500 cash reward for information about suspects involved in a burglary at the bar.

Manager Brandon Newman said the break-in happened between 4:30 and 8:00 a.m. Wednesday.

According to police reports, unknown suspects climbed gas pipes to the roof and entered the building by using a cinder block to smash a plywood-covered skylight.

Suspects removed a gray safe after forcing the office door open, according to reports. A cash drawer from the downstairs bar was also stolen.

Newman said the Locker Room lost about $2,500.

This is the third break-in at the Locker Room in three months, he said.

The suspects took $700 during Thanksgiving weekend after breaking a glass skylight, Newman said.

He said a similar incident happened during Christmas vacation, but nothing was stolen.

Newman said witnesses on the McKinley Avenue parking garage saw two people on the Locker Room's roof last week.

The Locker Room will install a security system, including several cameras, Newman said.

Muncie Police Officer John Kowalski, who is investigating the case, could not be reached for comment.
