MEN'S VOLLEYBALL: Cardinals beat No. 8 Ohio State

The Ball State University men's volleyball defeated No. 8 Ohio State University 26-30, 30-28, 32-30, 31-29 on Friday.

The Cardinals (8-6, 3-1 MIVA) had three players finish the match with more than 10 kills. Outside attacker Pat Durbin had 12 digs and a match-high 22 kills.

The Buckeyes (7-3, 5-1 MIVA) entered Friday's match in first place in the conference and led the Cardinals by two-and-half matches.

"This match sends a bit of a message especially because we were predicted to finish fifth in the conference at the beginning of the season," coach Joel Walton said.

This is the second time this season the Cardinals have beaten a ranked team. Last week Ball State defeated No. 14 George Mason University.
