Fraternity goes under review

Student life looks into alcohol report at Delta Tau Delta house

Ball State University is investigating the allegation that Delta Tau Delta fraternity had alcohol on chapter property during the weekend, Cara Luyster, assistant director of the Office of Student Life, said.

According to a press release from the Delta Tau Delta International fraternity, the university sanctioned the fraternity by not allowing alcohol on chapter property until August 2009.

The fraternity's international headquarters supported the university's decision, according to a Jan. 24 press release.

According to the press release, the international fraternity and the chapter's alumni conducted a membership review on Jan. 5, which resulted in the loss of 19 of the 56 members.

In the press release, Chapter President Kyle Pfeifer said after the chapter's membership was reviewed, it was a time to concentrate on growing the chapter with the remaining members.

Pfeifer could not be reached for comment.

Interfraternity Council President Cody Willis said he would be briefed on the situation Tuesday.

"As of now I have not heard anything," he said.
