Bowling Green took a lead less than 30 seconds into Wednesday's game and never relinquished it en route to a 88-56 win against Akron.
The Falcons improved to 12-3 with the win to open MAC play. The Zips fell to 5-10 on the season with the loss.
Freshman guard Lauren Prochaska led the Falcons with 18 points, which was a game high, in the first half. Three other Bowling Green players also scored double-digit points in the win.
Freshman guard Kara Murphy led Akron with 18 points in the loss.
Kent State: 74Ohio: 68
Kent State tied Wednesday's game at Ohio with 25 seconds remaining in regulation and went on to win 74-68 in overtime.
The Golden Flashes improved to 4-9 with the MAC opening win while the Bobcats fell to 7-7 on the season.
Senior guard Simone Redd scored 12 points and surpassed the 1,000 point mark for her career in the Bobcats' loss. Senior guard Lauren Kohn was two assists away from a triple double as she scored 15 points and added 11 rebounds.
Freshman center Ellie Shields, junior guard Asheley Harkins and junior forward Anna Kowalska led the Golden Flashes with 16, 17 and 18 points respectively.
Eastern Michigan: 61Northern Illinois: 42
Eastern Michigan committed 25 turnovers but opened MAC play with a 61-42 win against Northern Illinois.
Northern Illinois committed 28 turnovers in the loss, as it fell to 4-10 on the season. The Eagles improved to 7-6 on the season.
Eastern Michigan led 20-12 at halftime, the fewest combined points scored in a half at the Eastern Michigan Convocation Center.
For the game, senior center Colleen Russell led the Eagles with 16 points in the win. Junior guard Shari' Welton led the Huskies with 13 points.
Buffalo: 62Miami: 57
Miami led with a little more than two minutes remaining Wednesday but could not maintain the lead, as it lost at home 65-57 to Buffalo.
Buffalo improved to 8-6 with the win in the conference opener while Miami fell to 8-7 on the season.
The Bulls rebounded from a nine point deficit with about 10 minutes remaining in the game by going on a 14-2 run to take the lead 49-46. The teams changed the lead in the final minutes a couple times but Buffalo pulled out the win.
Freshman forward Jessica Fortman, 12 points and 10 rebounds, and senior forward Heather Turner, 11 points and 10 rebounds, both had double-doubles in the win.
Senior guard Amanda Jackson led the RedHawks with 19 and senior forward Markwood added 15 rebounds in the loss.
Toledo: 72Central Michigan: 52
With a 72-52 victory against Central Michigan Wednesday, Toledo extended its winning streak to four games, the longest since it won seven straight in the 2002-2003 season.
The Rockets improved to 8-5 on the season and 1-0 in the MAC. The Chippewas fell to 4-10 on the year with the league-opening loss.
Sophomore forward Allie Clifton scored a career-high 24 points in the win for Toledo. She made four of her five shots from beyond the three-point arc. She scored at least 20 points in four of Toledo's last five games.
Angel Chan led Central Michigan with 17 points in the game.
