Former Ball State deputy athletics director makes first hire

Former Ball State University Deputy Athletics Director Ken Brown made his first hire as the athletics director of Lambuth University Saturday.

Lambuth hired Hugh Freeze, who served as the interim head coach at the University of Mississippi this season, to be its football coach. He will be formally introduced as the coach at a press conference today.

Freeze also worked as the recruiting coordinator and wide receivers coach at Mississippi. He also has experience as a high school head coach at Briarcrest Christian School from 1995 to 2004. As the football coach, Freeze led Briarcrest to six consecutive state title games, including two championships. He also served as the school's girl's basketball coach from 1994 to 2005 and won four state titles.

Brown retired from Ball State in December and began working as the athletics director at Lambuth Jan. 7.
