The managers of a new clothing and cosmetic store in the Village said they are optimistic after a successful first week of business.
Store manager Joyce King said she and co-manager Erin Stessen opened Konaléa last week. The store targets Ball State University students as well as the Muncie community, King said.
"We wanted to provide excellent services to students at a location that is within walking distance," King said.
Konaléa features a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. A waiting area with couches and a TV occupies one corner of the store. Complementary beverages are available to customers as they wait for an appointment.
King said the store offers cosmetic treatments for men and women.
She said treatments offered include: temporary hair removal, sun spot and skin blotch removal and wrinkle reduction.
"We offer a different type of service," King said. "Our services are cost-effective, and are reasonably priced for college students."
The store's state-of-the-art treatment machine, the Starlux-500, which is a multi-purpose skin treatment device, is one of two in Indiana, King said.
In addition to skin treatment services, Konaléa also carries women's casual clothing and skin care products, King said.
Stessen said the store plans to sell formal wear, jewelry, flip-flops and other accessories.
