Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Tom Collins announced Tuesday he is reorganizing the athletics department beginning immediately.
Two people, Collins and Karin Lee, who is the associate athletics director and senior woman administrator, will be in charge of the sports supervision, Collins said. Previously, the responsibility was distributed between five people, Collins said. The changes will allow for more consistent responses and more communication between the coaches and the athletics staff, Collins said.
"We think that's important because Karin and I can give consistent messages and more time to the coaches," Collins said.
President Jo Ann Gora also announced an internal investigation about racial conditions at the university was finalized. The findings were similar to those of the external investigation conducted by Judge Myra Selby and more positive than negative, Gora said.
