Akron
Two Akron football players will play in senior all-star games during the next two weeks.
Wide receiver Jabari Arthur was selected to play in the Hula Bowl Saturday in Hawaii and defensive lineman Nate Robinson will play in the East West Shrine Game Jan. 19.
Arthur finished his college career as the Zips all-time leading receiver with 184 receptions and 2,653 receiving yards. Robinson had 26 tackles during his senior season, including two sacks.
Central Michigan
The Central Michigan women's basketball team will add a former SEC center to its line-up for the 2009 MAC season.Katherine Young announced Monday she has transferred from Mississippi State University to Central Michigan, according to cmuchippewas.com.
Young, a 6-foot-3-inch sophomore, played seven games for the Bulldogs last season, averaging 1.9 minutes per game and 0.4 points per game. She also played high school basketball in Detroit.
Young will not be eligible in games for the Chippewas until December 2008 but can begin practicing with Central Michigan during this semester.
Kent State
After finishing the season with the conference's worst passing offense and seventh in total offense, Kent State will have a new offensive coordinator for the 2008 season.
A.J. Pratt was named the Golden Flashes' offensive coordinator Monday and will take over the offensive play calling duties head coach Doug Martin held for the last four seasons.
Pratt has been an assistant coach at Kent State since 2001, coaching tackles and tight ends and also serving as the team's recruiting coordinator.
Northern Illinois
The official mascot of NCAA basketball will appear at the Northern Illinois-Ball State women's basketball game Saturday.
J.J. Jumper will sign autographs from 1:30-1:50 p.m. prior to the 2 p.m. tip-off. It will also perform throughout the game to promote youth basketball participation and sportsmanship.
J.J. Jumper is a 6-foot-5-inch tall green creature with orange hair.
Western Michigan
Western Michigan point guard Tiera DeLaHoussaye earned the Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week for the fourth time this season.
It was also the second consecutive week that the junior earned the honor.DeLaHoussaye scored 16 points and had 11 rebounds in the Broncos' loss to Marquette Jan. 2.
The Broncos resume play Wednesday against Ball State.
