Coming off of a tournament win at the La Quinta Inn & Suites Thanksgiving Tournament, the Ball State University women's basketball team continues road play at the University of Temple on Wednesday.
With its two losses coming to the University of Louisville and Indiana University this season, the Cardinals line up to face a Temple team that was defeated in the second round of the NCAA tournament last year.
Temple is 2-4 this season with three of its four losses coming from ranked opponents.
Ball State enters this game 3-0 away from Worthen Arena, and forward Lisa Rusche said a win in Philadelphia would help prove the team can win a big game.
"[A win is] huge, especially with all the traveling distractions and the emotions that come with that." Rusche said. "Our road trip started out well, and we need another victory."
Ball State coach Tracy Roller said the rebound battle is important against Temple. Temple averages 25 boards a game, led by second team All-Atlantic 10 center Lady Comfort.
"You have to give yourself an opportunity to stay up with rebounds with a team like Temple, or they will run with it." Roller said.
Even after winning the Thanksgiving Tournament, Rusche said a win in Wednesday's game against Temple could help Ball State make a statement.
"We've only gotten better as we've played [Louisville and Indiana]," Rusche said. "I think this is the game we can finally push over the hump."
