University Senate votes to approve core curriculum

The new core curriculum is one step closer to becoming a reality as University Senate voted Thursday to approve the University Core Curriculum for the 21st Century.

Unlike previous discussions about the core throughout the Ball State University governance system, there was little debate about the curriculum among faculty and student senate members.

University Senate Chairman Bruce Hozeski said he was appreciative of all the thought and debate that went into the core's discussion over the years.

"In all my years in university governance, this has probably been one of the most passionate issues," Hozeski said. "I've always said I'm glad to see people make decisions with passion."

The document now goes to the Board of Trustees.
