SOCCER: Players earn Academic All-MAC honors

The Mid-American Conference named four Ball State University soccer players to the Academic All-MAC team Friday.

Seniors Angie Heyer and Sarah Leibel, and juniors Rachael Murphy and Emily Rein earned the honors.

It is the first time that Ball State had four players named to the Academic All-MAC team.

It was the second consecutive year that Rein earned the honor. The forward has a 3.77 grade point average in pre-business. She led the Cardinals with 17 points and six goals. She was also named to the Second Team All-MAC earlier this season.

Heyer has a 3.53 GPA in physical education. The defender was also named to the Second Team All-MAC.

Leibel has a 3.818 GPA in political science. She had 10 points, which was tied for fourth on the team.

Murphy was also a Second Team All-MAC selection. She has a 3.388 GPA in nursing. The goalkeeper had a MAC best 10 shutouts and 0.53 goals against average.
