MEN'S BASKETBALL: Cardinals sign three recruits with height

Three players signed national letters of intent to play for the Ball State University men's basketball team.

They are the first to sign with Ball State since Billy Taylor became the Cardinals' coach this season.

Ball State signed Maurice Hubbard, Pierre Sneed and Eric Wormely.

Hubbard is a 6-foot-6-inch forward from Chantilly, Va., which is near Washington D.C. He averaged 19 points and 10 rebounds as a junior. He is the son of Washington Wizards assistant coach and former NBA player Phil Hubbard.

Sneed is a 6-foot-4-inch guard from Chicago. His high school team, Simeon High School, won two consecutive state championships. He is from the same school as Ball State junior forward Anthony Newell.

Wormely is a 6-foot-8-inch forward. He is a sophomore at Kishwaukee Community College in Malta, Ill. He averaged 12 points and 12 rebounds as a freshman at the community college. He made the All-Arrowhead Conference team and NJCAA All Region Team last year.

"We are very excited to bring these three young men into our Ball State family," Taylor said in a press release. "Maurice, Pierre and Eric have the characteristics, integrity and work ethic we value and look for in prospects. They also obviously have the basketball skills to help us in key positions as we move forward."
