Bowling GreenA former Bowling Green goaltender was promoted to the NHL Wednesday.

The Boston Bruins recalled Jordan Sigalet after Bruins' goaltender Manny Fernandez strained his knee in practice Tuesday.

Sigalet was selected by the Bruins in the seventh round of the 2001 NHL draft.

The Bruins recalled Sigalet three times during the 2005-06 season. He played in his first NHL game Jan. 7, 2006 and did not allow a goal in his one minute of play.

The 26-year-old was 15-5-2 at Providence this year and he had a 2.39 goals against average.

The Bruins play the Buffalo Sabres at 7 p.m.

Eastern MichiganAn Eastern Michigan redshirt sophomore was ranked No. 19 in the 133-pound weight class in the NWCA Division I pre-season rankings.

Sean Clair sat out last season, and in his freshman year, Clair had a 28-11 overall record. He was 11-3 in dual meets.

Clair finished fourth with a 5-2 record at the Southern Scuffle and fourth at the Mid-American Conference wrestling tournament.

The Eagles begin their season Saturday, when they host the 16th annual EMU Open.

Kent StateThe Mid-American Conference named Kent State freshman golfer Brett Cairns the men's golfer of the week Wednesday.

Cairns led the Golden Flashes to a fifth place finish at the UNCG Bridgestone Collegiate Championship. He finished second overall with a five-under par 211. He tied a career best four-under par 68 in the second round of the tournament.

Cairns is the third Kent State golfer to win the award this season. Freshman John Hahn and sophomore Davis Ludow won the award the last two weeks the team played.
