While the season is complete for most of the Ball State University cross country team, one runner has one race left.
Sophomore Ali Bishel will compete at the 2007 Division I Women's NCAA Cross Country Championships at 12:55 p.m. today at the LaVern Gibson Championship Course in Terre Haute.
Thirty-one teams and 38 additional individuals, including Bishel, will compete at the meet.
Bishel is the first Ball State runner to qualify for the national competition since Jill Scully in 2004. Scully finished 52nd at the race.
Bishel is one of two Mid-American Conference runners to qualify for the meet. Laura Neufarth, from Miami University, also qualified for the event. Neufarth, who finished first at the MAC championship, finished fifth overall at the Great Lakes Regional meet. Bishel finished seventh at the regional meet and second at the MAC championship.
Bishel led the Cardinals at all their meets this season. The sophomore earned the MAC Runner Of The Week award Oct. 17, and a spot on the Academic All-MAC Team this season.
