With sophomore Sophie Quist, senior Haly Calderwood and coach Kathy Bull in Ann Arbor, Mich. for the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regional, the remainder of the Ball State University women's tennis team competed in the Ball State Fall Tournament this weekend.
Freshman Georgina Thomson defeated Katia Babina of Bowling Green State University 5-7, 6-4, 6-3 Saturday before falling to Priyanka Parekh of Western Michigan University 6-7 (4), 6-4, 10-7 Sunday. Junior Emma Retter was also victorious Saturday by defeating Bowling Green's Andrea Volle 6-2, 6-3.
In other Saturday singles action, junior Rachel Surowiec was defeated 2-6, 1-6 by Bowling Green's Libby Harrison, senior Jennifer Pollack was defeated 0-6, 4-6 by Western Michigan's Yumi Matsuto, and freshman Hay Hall was defeated 6-7, 1-6 by Western Michigan's Amanda Moccia.
The team of Retter and Surowiec lost to the team of Bowling Green's Samantha Kintzel and Western Michigan's Yuka Kobayashi 6-8 in doubles action Friday. The teams of Thomson and Rist, and Pollack and Hall both lost Friday as well.
The Cardinals conclude their fall season Thursday through Sunday at the Memphis Invitational.
