The south side of Bracken Library was filled with music, calling those within earshot to the building, as part of a collaborative effort between WCRD and the library on Tuesday.
WCRD promotions manager Jade Sullivan said the radio station was doing a live remote to support Bracken and to encourage people to read while they listen to the radio.
The radio station gave away key chains, pencils, pens and CDs while it registered people to win tickets to a concert featuring The Academy Is on Nov. 21.
Susan Akers, marketing communications manager for Bracken, said she thought it was a great idea for the radio station to do a live broadcast from the library.
"It's great when different organizations work together to get out there and connect with students," Akers said.
The library has featured dancers and theater majors, but never the radio, Akers said.
"It has a surprise element," Akers said. "Students don't expect a radio to be broadcasting by the library."
Akers said Bracken looks for ways to be different and is excited about the collaboration with WCRD.
"The weather was great, and they got to meet students face to face," she said.
The library plans to have similar events in the future, Akers said.
"There is so much going on here," Akers said. "It's a learning center in the heart of campus."
Akers said she wants students to realize Bracken has more to offer than books.
"We have art, music, a café and it's where people come to meet friends and feel comfortable," Akers said. "It's more than a stereotypical library environment."
