Registration for etiquette dinner to close today

The Ball State University Career Center will teach students why knowing which fork to use is important at the Professional Etiquette Dinner.

Students who wish to attend should register no later than today in Lucina Hall Room 220, King said. They should be prepared to pay the $10 fee with cash, check or credit upon registering, she said.

Willow King, assistant director of the Career Center, said the dinner is 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 29 at the Alumni Center.

The event is open to anyone, King said.

Students must notify the career center if they need a vegetarian dinner, she said.

It is important for students to learn business etiquette, King said.

"A lot of interviews are over meals, and students need to feel confident in dining with potential employers," she said. "It's best to learn now before you have to do it for real."

Career Center representatives also will talk about etiquette in the workplace, she said.

Professionals and students who attend the dinner will have a chance to mingle and network before the meal, she said.

Students are encouraged to dress in business attire for the event, she said.
