House south of Village goes up in blaze early Friday

No one was injured in a house fire that burned for about 45 minutes early Friday morning.

303 N. Martin Street caught fire at 12:44 a.m. Friday after a downed power line fell on the abandoned house, Jim Clevenger, Muncie Fire Department battalion chief, said. Crews extinguished the fire at about 1:30 a.m., he said.

The fire didn't damage any neighboring houses or other property, Clevenger said.

The owner of the house said it hadn't been occupied in eight years and was being remodeled. The property was worth $70,000 and was insured, the owner said.
