Thompson not on Ball State campus Monday

Ball State University men's basketball coach Ronny Thompson has not been on campus all day, his secretary said at approximately 2 p.m. Monday.

Rumors that Thompson wants to leave the Cardinals' men's basketball head coaching position have spread throughout the Muncie area after racist notes were found in his office June 27. Thompson has not commented on the accuracy of the rumors since the incident. He was out recruiting Monday, and his secretary said she did not know when he will be back to the Ball State campus.

Cardinals' Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Tom Collins said Monday morning that he is still attempting to schedule an interview between Thompson and the Daily News. Collins doesn't not know when Thompson will be available for questions, but said he would call immediately.
