The College of Architecture and Planning selected Guillermo Vasquez de Velasco as its new dean. Vasquez de Velasco, who is executive associate dean and director of outreach at Texas A&M University, will take over the Ball State University position on Aug. 1.
"It is with great enthusiasm that I accept the position of dean at Ball State," Vasquez de Velasco said in a university press release. "I have a deep respect for the skill of teachers, the knowledge of those involved in research and creative activities and the dedication of those who have a vocation for service."
Vasquez de Velasco won the College Teaching Excellence Award and Graduate Faculty Award at Texas A&M. He serves as coordinator of the Las Americas Digital Research Network and won the University International Excellence award for helping with the development of educational programs in Europe and Latin America.
