The Ball State University women's volleyball team announced its 2007 schedule Wednesday.
The Cardinals open their season Aug. 24-25, hosting the Ball State Nike/Active Challenge with matches against Maine University, Southeast Missouri State University and Ohio State University.
In non-conference play, the team has a school-record four tournaments, including road tournaments at Hofstra University Aug. 31 and University of Iowa Sept. 14. The Cardinals play eight of its 10 non-conference matches in tournaments.
Ball State also plays two matches against teams that finished the 2006 season nationally ranked, No. 16 Ohio State Aug. 25 and No. 25 Ohio University Oct. 12.
Ball State opens the MAC season on a three-match road trip, beginning Sept. 20 at Central Michigan University.
Thirteen of Ball State's 27 matches are at home, including a four-match homestand Oct. 19-27 and a three-match homestand Sept. 29 to Oct. 6.
The season will be Dave Boo's first as Ball State's coach, after being the associate head coach at the University of Minnesota for five seasons. The Cardinals play two matches against Big Ten schools, Ohio State and Iowa Sept. 15.
Last season Ball State had its first losing season, 12-18, since 1988, and finished third place in the MAC West Division. Bowling Green State University eliminated the Cardinals in the MAC Tournament second round.
