From a regurgitating performer to free Carter's hot dogs, the Ball State University Program Board is enticing students to participate in the fourth annual Spring Fling this week. All events are free for students with Ball State ID.
Jason Davies, a member of UPB, said students can participate in activities such as kickball, a water balloon toss, tag, kite flying and relay races today on LaFollette Field from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Stevie Starr, a world famous regurgitator, will be performing at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Pruis Hall. Starr has been entertaining audiences for years by swallowing and then regurgitating items such as light bulbs, rings, pool balls and goldfish. The event costs $3 for non-students.
Junior Noah Meadors, president of UPB, said Starr has preformed at Ball State in previous years and always draws a large crowd.
"Starr is from Scotland, and he only does a few shows in the states each year, and we're fortunate to snag him," Meadors said.
Students can get free Carter's hot dogs, along with popcorn, cotton candy and Sno-Cones, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the Scramble Light.
UPB will wrap up the week's festivities with the Late Nite Carnival from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. in Commuter 1 parking lot on the north side of campus, near LaFollette Complex. New to the carnival this year will be a fireworks display at midnight.
A stage at the carnival will feature music, yo-yo and mentalist performances. The carnival will also have rides, games and food. The event is $5 for non-students.
"My favorite part of Spring Fling is the carnival," sophomore Nancy Fisher said, "But, with the events being free, I don't know why any student wouldn't take advantage of the fun."
