The Ball State University softball team will travel to northern Ohio to continue Mid-American Conference play this weekend.
The Cardinals (13-22, 4-4 MAC) will play a doubleheader against the University of Toledo (6-20, 2-4 MAC) today. Ball State will then play a game against Bowling Green State University (19-6, 4-2 MAC) Saturday and Sunday.
"Obviously you'd like to go 3-1, but if you're .500 on the road, that's probably not a bad thing," coach Craig Nicholson said.
The Cardinals are in a four-way tie for fifth place in the MAC West Division.
Ball State has not split a series against a MAC opponent this season. The Cardinals swept the University of Akron and Northern Illinois University and were swept by Ohio University and Western Michigan University.
Toledo has the second-worst overall winning percentage in the MAC. Nicholson said he thinks the Cardinals can exploit the Rockets' pitching.
"Our plan will be to get on them early," Nicholson said. "Hopefully we can use up all of their arms, score some runs and go from there."
Bowling Green has the best overall winning percentage in the MAC.
"Bowling Green is one of the top two or three teams in the conference," Nicholson said. "[We have to] go play well and hopefully get one from them."
