Ball State University will roll out the "Roll out the Red" for Homecoming 2007, as the steering committee has announced the theme and begun planning the week.
General Chairman Brian Geiselhart said the Homecoming Steering Committee considered the renovations being made on Ball State's campus while brainstorming theme ideas. The theme represents Homecoming 2007 as rolling out a new, updated Ball State, he said.
Publicity Chairwoman Kim Jackson said this year's Homecoming will include old and new events and features. Music on McKinley and the fireworks show, both of which debuted at Homecoming 2006, will return, along with traditional events such as the Homecoming Parade and Air Jam.-á
Jackson said she can't say yet exactly what will be added to the festivities until the committee's plans are finalized, but there would be a new event for opening day and improved features throughout the week's events. -á
Along with introducing Ball State's fresh look and new buildings, the committee hopes to create a better Homecoming experience not only for students, but for the whole Muncie community, Geiselhart said. Homecoming attracts more than Ball State students, he said.-á
Junior Courtney Books said she would enjoy any additions made to Homecoming Week as long as the committee didn't take away any of the regular events. She wants to participate in her favorite traditions before she graduates, she said.-á
"I look forward to Homecoming every year, but especially this year because it will be my last Homecoming," she said.-á -á
Jackson and Geiselhart both said they hoped all the students, residents, alumni and faculty would be involved in this year's Homecoming because everyone can enjoy the traditions and events.
"This year's activities will tie everyone together at Ball State," he said. "I hope to build a better relationship between the students, alumni, faculty and residents."
