Three is sometimes considered a crowd, but a Philadelphia trio has made the number work for them. The classically-trained Time for Three will perform at 7 p.m. in Pruis Hall.
Violinists Nicholas Kendall and Zachary DePue and double bassist Rannan Meyer attended the Curtis Institute of Music. All three men came from musical backgrounds and drew from their passions to create their music.
"It's less about the instruments and more about the human interaction," Kendall said.
Tf3 formed to play recreationally and never thought the band would reach such heights. Their unique blend of artistry continues to capture attention, including that of famous actor Paul Newman.
"To hear these guys is to be grateful music was invented," Newman said on tf3.com.
Tf3 has performed at the Kennedy Center's Terrace Theatre, Liberty Awards Ceremony and 92nd Street Y in New York City. The group's current tour consists of 130 concerts in 31 states. Tf3 has released two albums and is in the process of releasing a third titled "Three Fervent Travelers."
"We want to change the industry standard by producing integrity with music," Meyer said.
Tf3 will open the show with a self-composed piece, "Wyoming 307," which incorporates six genres into one composition.
"We are an example of how all genres of music can be combined to one commutative process," Kendall said.
Tickets for the show are $15 for adults and $5 for 18 and under and Ball State University students.
