MEN'S TENNIS: Ball State focuses in practices, prepares for Buffalo matchup

Cards looking for 20th MAC title under coach Bill Richards

Today, the Ball State University men's tennis team plays in its Mid-American Conference match against the University of Buffalo.-áThe Cardinals are coming off two hard losses over Spring Break against the University of Michigan and the University of Nevada-Las Vegas.

"Those are two tough losses, but they weren't conference matches," sophomore Jimmy Brannon said. "Tomorrow is Buffalo, and that's a MAC match."

One of the Cardinals' goals for the season is to repeat as MAC Champions.-áBall State has won 19 MAC championships, and coach Bill Richards has coached the team to all 19.

Brannon said that practices were more focused this week.-áThe team is preparing for the match against Buffalo because it is in need of a confidence boost, he said.

"We worked hard in practice this week, and we are just trying to forget about our last few matches to do better in conference," Joe Vallee said.

The Cardinals are gearing up for their last eight matches of the season, five of which are MAC.

"We are pretty serious going into every match," Vallee said.
