Administrator takes position at California-Davis

Nona Richardson, who has spent the past five years as associate athletics director and senior woman administrator at Ball State University, will leave next month to take an athletic administration post at the University of California-Davis.

Richardson was named senior associate athletics director at the school, filling a void left by Pam-Gill-Fisher, who retired. Richardson said the school's academic reputation was the biggest drawing point.

"A major component of it is the academic responsibility throughout the campus," Richardson said. "They want to make sure that athletics does not lose what the focus is within the university as a whole. We don't have special [athletic] admits. They have to meet the same standards that the [University of California] system does."

Richardson also said she will be given an academic title that has not been determined.

She will start at the school on April 16.
