Kelly Watson won the all-around for the second straight match, but the Ball State University gymnastics team (1-4, 0-3 Mid-American Conference) lost to Bowling Green State University 191.425-188.925.
The Cardinals, who were seeking their first MAC victory of the season after recording their first win from their last match, traveled to Bowling Green (3-1, 3-1 MAC) on Saturday.
The only event Ball State won in the match was the vault. The Cardinals, led by Jenna Tarkington's first-place and career-high score of 9.850, set a season high with a 48.500 in the event.
The Cardinals scored a 46.150 in the uneven parallel bars, one point less than Bowling Green's 47.150. Bibiana Rodriguez placed second and led the Cardinals with a 9.525.
Alexandra Tuthull's career-high score of 9.775 on the balance beam led the Cardinals as the team scored a 46.700. Bowling Green's Bethany Kenel won the event with a 9.850, and the Falcons scored a 47.600.
Watson was the Cardinals' highest scorer in the floor exercise with a 9.625, good enough for third place. The Cardinals lost the event 47.575-48.250.
Watson won the all-around with a score of 38.075.
The Cardinals' next match will be this Saturday against Texas Women's University in Denton, Texas.
