Ball State University's baseball team earned its first win of the season this weekend, but was also dominated by the nation's top team.
In its second week of action Ball State (1-6) opened the weekend with a 1-0 victory against Lipscomb Saturday. Ryan Chenoweth batted in Wayne Bond in the first inning for the game's only run. Brenden Stines pitched 6 2/3 innings, striking out five batters while allowing five hits.
Later Saturday, No. 1 Vanderbilt University (9-0) dominated the Cardinals 15-3, scoring 15 runs on 16 hits and didn't allow the Cardinals to score until the top of the ninth inning.
On Sunday the Cards fell short against Belmont (5-0), losing 5-4. Chenoweth batted in three runs on 2-of-4 hitting.
