The defending Mid-American Conference Champion Ball State University baseball team dropped four games in its opening weekend in the FAU Beach Ball Bash in Florida this weekend.
The team lost Friday to Florida Atlantic University 3-8. La Salle University beat the Cardinals twice Saturday, 2-4 and 5-11. Oklahoma State University completed the sweep by downing Ball State 4-19 Sunday.
In the games, 10 freshmen played in their first collegiate game and 15 players competed for the first time as a Cardinal.
Ryan Chenoweth hit a solo home run to score the first run for the Cardinals after Oklahoma State scored the first seven runs of the game.
In Sunday's game, senior Matt Gard hit his first home run of the season to score the second run of the game for Ball State.
