Some students who aren't ready to leave Ball State University at the end of Spring Semester don't have to go home. They can hang out with incoming freshmen instead.
Today is the last day for students to apply to be a 2007 summer orientation leader. Leaders work with groups of 20 to 25 incoming freshmen for day-and-a-half programs, Associate Director of Admissions Chris Munchel said.
"It really lets them know what we expect out of them at Ball State University and lets the parents know what we expect," Munchel said, "and I just feel that once students and their parents go through the program they are ready to be a Ball State student."
Orientation leaders live for free in the residence halls and are paid for about 40 hours a week, Munchel said.
Typically, about 80 applications are submitted for orientation leaders, but only a handful are selected, he said.
Applications are in the L.A. Pittenger Student Center Room 133. They are due by 5 p.m.
