Kent State defeats Ball State; D'Andre Peyton suspended

Ball State University's men's basketball team could have used senior D'Andre Peyton in a 60-54 loss to Kent State University Wednesday.

Peyton was not on the bench with the team and is indefinitely suspended due to a violation of team rules. Coach Ronny Thompson declined to explain how Peyton violated team policy in the post-game press conference.

Peyton averaged 8.5 points and 4.4 rebounds per game and was one of three seniors on the Cardinals' roster.

In addition, Peyton played in 17 games and averaged 22 minutes in those games. He was also second on the team with 10 blocks and 75 rebounds before Wednesday's game.

"I think any time you don't have all of your guys [the team] is effected," Thompson said. "The distraction is there. Physically the potential production isn't there. Is that a problem? Yeah, it is. We have to have all guns blazing."

Peyton's absence leaves the Cardinals (6-13, 2-4 Mid-American Conference) with one player taller than 6 feet 6 inches, center Micah Rollin, who is 6 feet 10 inches.

"It might have hurt their rotations a bit," Kent
