Buffalo Wild Wings in Muncie is no longer working with the Student Savings Club, which provides discount cards for students.
Mat Townsend, general manager of Buffalo Wild Wings in Muncie, said he was talking to a Student Savings Club sales representative about a program the club was implementing when the sales representative talked to him disrespectfully.
"I was spoken to by a sales rep in a very unprofessional manner," he said.
Calls to Student Savings Club were not returned Sunday.
Townsend said he called to ask why he wasn't informed that the Student Savings Club had begun allowing students to use their university IDs to get discounts. Students had been coming in to Buffalo Wild Wings to get discounts by showing their IDs, and despite not knowing that the club made this policy Townsend honored the discounts anyway, he said. According to the Savings Club Web site, with an ID or the Savings Club Card students received free chips with the purchase of 12 wings or a sandwich.
Townsend said because of the conversation, he ended his business relationship with the Student Savings Club.
Maureen Bona, Buffalo Wild Wings employee, said she didn't feel that the incident hurt the Student Saving Club`s reputation because many other businesses continue to work with it. While she does not use the card herself, her boyfriend does, she said.
Townsend said he didn't think the program was bringing in enough new faces. He consistently saw the same students over and over, so the club was not a company he wanted to work with, he said.
"It was not a program I would invest in because the return on investment wasn`t there," he said.
Asher Lisec, president of Student Government Association, said she has had a positive experience with the Student Savings Club. Lisec said the club has always taken into consideration any complaint or concern.
She is pleased students have taken the time to voice concerns to the Student Savings Club and hopes they continue to, Lisec said.
As for Townsend`s testimony about the rude sales rep, Lisec said she has not seen or experienced the same unprofessionalism, but she has not worked directly with the sales department at the Student Savings Club.
