Ball State University students should pull any information they need off of Blackboard before 9:30 p.m. tonight when Blackboard will be taken offline, Loren Malm, system director for University Computing Services, says.
The UCS Help Desk said Blackboard is expected to be back online between midnight and the start of classes Wednesday.
Malm said he thought USC was replacing a hard drive. The hard drive hasn't failed yet, but has sent out reports predicting system failure.
UCS will probably back up Blackboard's system before it replaces the hard drive so no information is lost, Malm said. Then it will bring Blackboard back online and give the system time to resynchronize, he said.
UCS posted a memo on its Web site about Blackboard's closure but, Malm said, it probably won't send out a mass e-mail to students because the outage will only be one night and there won't be time for all students to get an e-mail, he said.
