This weekend went a lot better for the Ball State women's tennis team than two weeks ago, when the team last saw action.
Head coach Kathy Bull said she noticed the team's improvement.
"I felt like we did a little growing this weekend," she said. "Sometimes you see it; sometimes you do don't. I saw it this weekend."
Melissa Roach won four-straight singles matches to win the Flight A Championship.
"Melissa Roach has been lurking beneath the radar," Bull said, "I think she came back and matched, or even surpassed, her old form."
Roach was not the only one who had a good weekend. Jenny Batty won the Flight C Championship.
"Jenny Batty knocked off two Miami players," Bull said. "I think that was one of the greatest feats of the weekend."
The doubles team did well, winning seven of eight matches, but Bull said she isn't satisfied.
"We're just not moving as well as we'd like," she said. "We just have to move and be more athletic when we play doubles."
The team returns to action this weekend with the Michigan State Classic in East Lansing.
