WOMEN'S GOLF: Cards ready to tee off at EKU Invitational

At the Notre Dame Invitational, the Ball State women's golf team watched its second-place position after the first round drop to seventh by the tournament's end.

"We got off to a really good start but didn't quite finish it off like we needed to," head coach Shelley Sanders said. "They learned from it and will have a strong performance this weekend."

This weekend's match brings the Cardinals to Richmond, Ky., for the Eastern Kentucky University Fall Invitational, held by Ohio Valley Conference's EKU.

"It's a pretty good field and I certainly think we can win," Sanders said. "If everyone plays to their potential, I think we will do really well."

Senior Lisa Robertson led the Cardinals at the Notre Dame Invitational. Robertson has a 79.28 average through seven rounds on the season with a low round of 75 at the BSU Cardinal Classic on Sept. 6-7.

Sophomores Ali Meyer and Carmen Bodine had season-best rounds of 75 and 73 respectively at the Youngstown State Invitational, which the team won as Meyer captured medalist honors.

"It's hard to say (who will perform well). I think any one of them is capable of playing really well," Sanders said.

The 36-hole EKU Invitational at the Arlington Golf Course begins on Friday and concludes Saturday with the final round.
