Led by freshman Wayne Denger, the Ball State men's golf team completed its host match, the Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational, with eighth- and ninth-place finishes for Ball State White and Ball State Cardinal respectively.
Denger finished in a tie for 12th individually with a three-round score of 218 (69-74-75), marking the first time Ball State has not been led by sophomore Patrick Wilkes-Krier this season.
Wilkes-Krier finished with a three round score of 224 (74-73-77), tying with junior Mike Kasula for third among Ball State golfers.
Denger, Krier, freshman C.D. Hockersmith (227), sophomore Brandon Boomsa (225) and junior Bud Graessle (232) made up Ball State Cardinal.
Leading Ball State White was junior Lance Scholl, who finished in a tie for 21st individually. Scholl -- along with Kasula, freshmen Austin Steele and Andy Skillman, and sophomore Ryan Hungate -- filled out Ball State White.
Together, BSU White shot an 892 (292-299-301) through three rounds. The Ball State Cardinal team was one stroke behind with an 893 (295-299-299).
Ball State will return to action Oct. 13 and 14 at the Xavier Invitational at the Grizzly Course Kings Island in Mason, Ohio.
