LETTER: Murderer is now part of society

Dear Editor:

Ms. Chivers letter, concerning admitting Mr. Richard Dobeski to Ball State University as a student, appeared to be a compassionate letter, but she made an abrupt about-face, which showed her true colors and showed that she is as ignorant as those at whom she was pointing her finger.

It is my belief that the victims are never forgotten by those who knew them. To the rest of us, it doesn't matter. What does matter is that Mr. Dobeski becomes the best tax-paying citizen he can be. After all, he was a drain on the system while incarcerated, so it is only fair that he now shares the burden. It is also my belief that however fair or unfair the punishment was for Mr. Dobeski, he was tried, convicted and served his sentence. He is now part of society. Why do you think he should continue to pay for his crime? Why should we be relegated to living on welfare and sucking even more money out our pockets?
