Campus Update -- that fine publication linking Ball State's internal publics on and off campus ---áwill soon vanish into the paperless society as it goes online. I beg University Relations to reconsider.
I like to read Update anywhere. As a retiree, I spend too much time at my computer with writing projects, correspondence and zapping out hundreds of unwanted spam on AOL from hot babes, mortgage lenders, anatomy enhancers, insurance agents and "poor" folks in Nigeria who need my help to unfreeze $12 million in U.S. banks. That's besides e-mail from friends, my high school class, my WWII buddies and my professional organizations.
It isn't fair to criticize if one doesn't offer an alternative solution to save the money well spent on Campus Update. I suggest selling a single sponsorship of each issue to one advertiser, such as Ball State Credit Union, a local bank or TIAA-CREF. Take a hint from WBST and WIPB. Both do it regularly with underwriting.
Please stop Campus Update from vanishing online.
