Paul Panning will represent Ball State's men's track and field squad in the final meet of the season after making a qualifying mark at the NCAA Mideast Regionals this past weekend.
Panning, a junior, tied for fourth place in the pole vault event by jumping a height of 16-11 (5.16 meters) at the regionals. Panning won the same event by a judge's decision at the MAC Outdoor Championship, helping the men's team take a fifth place finish.
Also at the regionals representing the men's team were Allen Scott, Brian Runyon and Ben Daniel. Scott took an 11th place finish in the 400-meter preliminaries and Runyon got a 22nd place end to his 1500-meter career while Matt Conley did not compete in the javelin throw.
In the women's regionals, freshman Crystal Winfrey took ninth in the 400-meter preliminaries and Ashley Gillies tied for 18th in the high jump. Katie Nowak did not compete in the 5000-meter run.
The NCAA Championships will begin June 11 in Sacramento
