BSU outfielder earns four more awards

The awards continue to pile up for Ball State junior outfielder Brad Snyder. After being named to the Collegiate Baseball/Louisville Slugger All-America First Team earlier this summer, Snyder received four more All-America Awards for the 2003 season. Snyder was named first team All-America by Baseball America, second team All-America by both the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and the American Baseball Coaches Association and honorable mention All-America by CollegeBaseballInsider.com.

Snyder became Ball State's fourth Major League Baseball first-round draft pick earlier this summer when he was selected 18th overall by the Cleveland Indians in the 2003 MLB draft.

During the season, Snyder, the 2003 Mid-American Conference Player of the Year and First Team All-MAC selection, helped the Cardinals to a 36-21 overall record and a 17-10 MAC mark while batting a career-best .405 and leading the league in doubles (25), walks (49), total bases (154) and slugging percentage. He also ranked second in the conference in runs scored (68), RBIs (61) and on-base percentage (.522).

Snyder is joined on the Baseball America All-America First Team by Toledo designated hitter Mitch Maier, which marks the first time in MAC history that two league players were selected to the first team by that publication in the same year.
