Audience members will suspend their disbelief when watching the Spencers perform their mind-boggling "Theater of Illusion" Friday at 7 p.m. at Emens Auditorium.
Cindy and Kevin Spencer, the husband-and-wife team have been billed by the Vail Daily News as "Modern Day Houdinis" with their performance rich with drama, spine-tingling suspense, high-tech illusion, magic and humor suitable for the entire family. The Spencers' repertoire of illusions will take the audience through a range of emotions , from edge-of-the-seat suspense to awe to side-splitting humor. They combine illusions with music, theater, movement and audience participation.
The Spencers earned the coveted title of Performing Entertainers of the Year from 1995 to 2000, according to their Web site, the first artists to receive the award for six consecutive years. David Copperfield has won this award once.
"We try to take our audience on a roller coaster ride of emotions. We include some light-hearted illusions as well as some dramatic and suspenseful ones," said Cindy Spencer on the "FAQ" page of their Web site.
