The match against the Falcons marks the eighth straight road game for Ball State. The Cardinals have lost six of the seven games on the road stretch. The tour took the team north to Michigan, south to Texas and east to Virginia.
Both teams currently reside in the bottom half of the Mid-American Conference, but head coach Kathy Bull said the Falcons have an advantage on the Cardinals going into the match on Saturday. Bowling Green enters the game with Ball State fresh off a 4-3 win against Miami. The RedHawks defeated Ball State 4-3 on Friday.
Bull said the philosophy of her team is to view the next two weeks as a new season, looking to end the year on a positive note.
"We're trying to rally for the pride of the program," she said. "We're trying to get ourselves back into the thick of the conference where we think we belong. "
This match also has a vindication factor mixed with it, according to Bull.
"We're also looking at if we can play well against Bowling Green and come away with a victory it's also like redeeming yourself against Miami," she said.
The Cardinals should get a boast in their singles lineup with the return of sophomore Leisa Brooks who has missed time due to stress fractures in her legs. Bull said Brooks endured last weekend's doubles match against Miami, but the doctor did not give permission for the sophomore to play in singles against Miami or Marshall.
"We're going to sneak in and see the doctor [Thursday], but I let her practice [Wednesday]," she said. "She seemed to be enduring and handling it pretty well. Since we only have one match this weekend I would say we're leaning in favor of getting Leisa back for both doubles and singles."
