Suspect unknown in Friday's shooting

Incident occurred at Dill Street Bar and Grill in Village

Muncie Police had no suspects Friday afternoon in a shooting that occurred at University Avenue and Dill Street early Friday morning.

Terry Winters, deputy chief of the Muncie Police, identified the victim as Joshua Lampkins, 25, of Muncie. His medical condition was unknown at presstime.

The shooter fired three shots from inside a beige-colored Cadillac around 1:30 a.m., striking Lampkins at least once in the leg, police said. The shooting was the climax of an argument that police said began inside Dill Street Bar and Grill, 421 N. Dill St.

Winters said investigators spent Friday speaking to witnesses, but most were uncooperative.

Witnesses at the scene Friday morning said the shooter sped away east on University Avenue followed by a red sport utility vehicle.

Some witnesses who heard the shots but didn't see the shooting said they thought the noise was fireworks.

One witness said he was standing 11 feet from the where the shooting happened.

"I just kind of froze," the witness said. "I didn't know what the hell happened."
