Ball State and Miami will renew their fierce rivalry when the two teams meet for two games Wednesday at the Ball State softball complex.
The Cardinals will be looking to extend a three game home win streak when they face-off with the RedHawks. Ball State brings a 4-3-1 Mid-American Conference record into the game, while Miami comes in with a 4-1 conference mark.
"Those are going to be two tough games for us," head coach, Terri Laux said. "We need to keep maintaining to play at a higher level."
Laux also said the game will be a battle and that every conference game is important from here on out.
The team is feeling confident following wins over Eastern Michigan and Ohio, senior team captain, Katie Shea said.
"I don't think Miami is any different than Eastern (Michigan) or Ohio," Shea said. "Our confidence is up right now and this will be a good time to play them. I think these are pretty important games for us."
Kris Burdine will enter the doubleheader as the reigning MAC player of the week thanks to her performance last week. Over a five-game span, she notched a team-leading 11 hits and six runs scored, while managing a .550 batting average.
Ball State leads Miami 37-29 in the all-time series. The teams battled to a 1-1 split in the last meeting at Oxford, Ohio, on April 20, 2002.
